The Grove. (1)
Present day Grove Close marks the site of The Grove. The house was in existence by 1812 when the attorney William Jamson was living there. About 1840 the house was acquired by an architect and builder, William Patterson, it was then known as The Lodge. In 1851 Thomas Wilson, M.D., moved in and converted the house to a private asylum for male patients, at the same time changing its name to The Grove. … In 1968 The Grove was purchased by Nottinghamshire County Council and subsequently demolished to make way for a new primary school.
