Full Description

Sherwood Hall. (1)
… originally stood about one mile northeast of Mansfield on the edge of Sherwood Forest, from which it was separated by a large plantation of fir trees. It was built about 1763. … The last use of the Hall was as a private school. The house was demolished in 1965 to make way for a residential estate. Some of the green slates from the house were salvaged and used as a wall hanging on the exterior of the health centre in Church Street, Mansfield Woodhouse. The Sherwood Hall name lives on in the name of a local school. (2)
