Full Description
The location of two cellars were already known in the E and W of the site. Maps from 1790 to 1886 show that there was a row of houses located here, which local hearsay suggests housed candle manufacturers. Although not all the houses appear to have had cellars, the foundations destroyed all archaeological deposits in the area. The tree pit was machine dug in the area between the cellars, the upper 0.6-0.8m of the section consisted of brick rubble and other building debris. … The majority of the pottery dated from C17 to C20 and is probably associated with the construction, use and demolition of the houses built on the S part of Church Walk South.
