Full Description

It appears from the information given in The Story of Guildhall Street Chapel that the burial ground could have been in use potentially from 1786 to at least 1846 when the building became a day school and the congregation moved to the Barnbygate Church. There is no reason to suggest that they would have stopped using the burial ground on Guildahall Street at this time, especially as the area is still marked as a burial ground on the map of 1885. However there is no burial ground marked on the OS County Series map for 1920. (1)
Burial at 1.5m below ground level, the grave cut fell between two grave stones. This suggests that there has been a degree of linear displacement when the grave stones were uprooted and laid flat. It is unlikely that burials extend to the E of the boundary wall. (2)
See M9630 for Methodist chapel.
