Full Description

The pasture to the NW of Bolham Hall was uneven and there may have been a medieval track leading E of the road behind the present farm buildings. … Vestigal earthwork remains survived in pasture fields between Bolham Hall and Smeath Road. It is unlikely that these undulations would have been seen without the thin snow covering which emphasised irregularities. From ground level the marks are too vague to identify reliably - they appear rather irregular to be ridge and furrow cultivation but this is more likely than settlement remains. The context of the site, immediately beside a Hall and in apparently emparked land, would not preclude a medieval village site cleared to improve the setting of the Hall. (1)
