Full Description

Three mortared stone drains along the river's edge, several stone lined channels draining into the river. Two sluice gates were visible in a ditch running along the N edge of the field. A weir where the ditch and river meet appears to mark the start of a water meadows field system. Midway along the field a low bank appeared to join one of the sluice gates and two drains. The stone drains along the edge of the river appeared, after topsoil stripping, to be linked with a series of brick built culverts draining into several ditches. Although not linked directly to the sluice gates of the water meadows, the recorded system may have been re-used for later drainage schemes. (1)
Grid ref for S end of system.
