Full Description

Complex of enclosures, and L-shaped enclosure, double ditched feature. (1)
Cropmarks E of Tiln of a cluster of 6 subrectangular enclosures, probably of Ro date, c 1.5Ha in area. It is associated with field boundaries and 2 parallel ditches 5-6m apart, near the river. (2)
Morph: 141.1.1 enclosure, 141.1.2 trackway, 141.1.3 field boundary. (3)
Features indicative of settlement activity were located, together with pottery. Artefacts from Trench 03 suggest a Romanised establishment close by. Such a level of Romanisation seems relatively uncommon within the field systems of North Notts. This spread of activity may also be unusual, since domestic debris seems rarely to be found in any quantity away from the cropmark enclosure. (4)
See M18383 for IA / RB settlement nearby.
