Full Description

A burnt mound was identified on a locally high point of the gravel terrace, with later peat deposits to the NE and SW. The mound itself was situated at an interface between wet (clay) subsoil and drier sandy deposits, and sealed one peat-filled tree bowl feature, with others nearby. Mound material with 30-40% fire cracked pebbles survived to a maximum thickness of 0.16m at the centre of the mound, lensing out towards the edges. The maximum dimensions of the spread were approximately 7 x 6m. (1)
