Full Description

Marked 'Railway' on (1), running for approximately 2km (as the crow flies) from a location just north of (and now within) Watnall Wood, apparently terminating at a 'Swing Bridge' on the Nottingham canal (built 1792- 6) in the area of the Greasley Cut (built 1800). Gone by 1st Edition OS (2) (surveyed 1877-8). Earthwork on (2) in same location and with same alignment as railway where it crossed the Gilt Brook, represents remains of the railway, probably part of a bridge or embankment? (3)
Grid ref for N end at earthwork.
