Full Description

Test Pit 13 had approximately 20cm of overburden underlying the turf, with a reddish-brown clay layer directly underneath. The pit was tested to a depth of 50cm with no change. Artefacts recovered were all relatively modern and included a metal ring pull, glass, CBM and pottery. 83 sherds representing 62 vessels, most of which are of early modern type, were recovered. The earliest is a small sherd from a Midland Purple ware jug or jar of 15th or 16th date. (1)
