Full Description
An archaeological evaluation took place in 2011 prior to the erection of four benches at Glebe Field, Gypsy Lane, Bleasby. Two 2mx2m trenches and two 2mx1m trenches were excavated to assess the potential impact of the benches as a vicarage is known to have existed on the site until the mid 19th century. Pottery recovered from the trenches dated from the 15th to 20th centuries but was mixed in layers that had previously been disturbed, likely from the 19th century onwards. Some pieces of clay pipe dated from the 17th and 18th centuries. Trench 3 yielded a spread of mid 19th century demolition material. No other archaeological remains were recorded on the site. (1)
See MNT26862 for pottery and MNT26863 for clay pipe.
