Summary

Medieval potsherds with occasional roof tiles, iron nails and animal bones were thinly scattered throughout the deposit beneath the topsoil.

Full Description

Stripping of 0.6m of topsoil exposed a distinctive uniform deposit of greyish-brown clayey sandy earth with charcoal flecks. Thinly scattered throughout the deposit were medieval potsherds with occasional roof tiles, iron nails and animal bones. The pottery dated to 12th/13th century and 14th/15th century. (1)
