Full Description

A partially exposed spread of stones covering an area at least 9m in length and 2.5m wide, one course thick. The spread appeared to comprise of two different elements. A northern half comprising smaller irregular shaped random rubble, the southern half comprising large angular stones with worn flat upper surfaces. Formed an apparent stone raft. The worn nature of the southern half suggests it may have been exposed to wear for some time. The spread appeared to extend eastwards in the direction of South Muskham Prebend, to which it may have belonged as a yard. Further excavation would be required to confirm the true nature. Artefacts below and within the spread suggest it is Late Medieval in date. (1)
