Full Description

Plumtree, Normanton and Clipston came together to plan and to celebrate the Coronation of King George V on Tuesday 27 June 1911. The event was believed to have taken place in this field (Coronation Field). A series of 9 field visits took place between 22nd January 2012 and 15th April 2012 recovering a total of 157 coins and artefacts dating from the 16th century to the present day. Artefacts include horse shoes, a barrel tap key, costume jewellery (19th-20th century), a luggage name plate of the Rev. E. Gregory, a buckle, bronze rings, a rumbler bell, a leatherworkers lead palm guard, a spindle whorl and a musket ball. (1)
