Full Description

Various types of Medieval pottery found in test pits at the Chesterfield Arms. Types include Stamford Ware (1050-1230AD), Nottingham Light-bodied Green Glaze Ware (1220-1320AD), Nottingham Light-bodied Gritty Ware (1380-1480), Midland Purple (1380-1600). No Nottingham Splashed Ware but there was a poorer type of pot possibly indicating low status in the 12th century.(1)
