Full Description

The earlier road surface showed in a manhole inserted outside of no. 33 East Lane. It only showed in this manhole because, as an Ordnance Survey map of 1886 shows, the earlier road was both narrower and slightly to the west of the present road. It came up to the east walls of 19th century buildings that remain to this day (such as no. 33). (1)
