Full Description
Directly opposite No. 5, Old Road, Skegby. There were two troughs, the largest roughly 150m x 35cm, the second 50 x 35cm. They appeared to be hand carved out of a single block of stone, sandy in colour and texture. They could continue in either direction under the overburden. Sunk into the ground, flush with ground level, area between them and the road lined with stones. Fed by a spring. Too low for horses. Could be associated with the Toll Bar shown on Sanderson or with Cruck Cottage. (1)
Marked on OS maps from 1879, 1899 and 1919. (2) (3) (4)
Data Held, Parish File (Document). SNT2647.
