Full Description

RAF Station Winthorpe, No. 51 Base opened in September 1940 as a satellite for RAF Swinderby. The airbase incorporated Coddington Hall wich had been requisitioned by the army in 1917. Winthorpe became inactive in 1959 although the accommodation quarters continued in RAF use until the 1960s when they were incorportated into Coddington village. The present showground site was established in 1965. (1)
