Full Description

Three sherds of medieval pottery found associated with a spread of stones, the top of which was only just visible. The stones may have marked an animal burial and the sherds had probably been disturbed from a lower level when the feature was formed. Severn sherds of medieval pottery were uncovered from stripping the length of the trench. One may be of late Anglo-Saxon date. At least two others are Splashed Ware of 12th-13th century date. Absence of later green-glazed wares might suggest that settlement focus shifted from west to the east of the church in the 14th century. (1)
