Full Description

The dam is almost certainly Medieval by the scale of it and probably had some Cistercian input from nearby Rufford. The village greenretains much of its former character remaining largely unenclosed. These features are an unusual and rare survival in the county. (1)
The area of the Green is shown on Sanderson's map of 1835. (2)
