Full Description

Early C20 Parish Hall.

North elevation: One and half storey hall of brick and tile under a tiled, hipped roof with over-sailing eaves and central spire. Central recessed round-arched entrance with overlight and timber planks double doors with individual leaded lights and decorative ironwork. Decorative Lead overlight. Horizontal panel above the door is decorated with a lion’s head at either end. The central panel above has an embossed oval medallion depicting ???. Flanked by panels with geometric coloured leaded lights and lead panels. The elevation is highly decorative with panels of decorative patterned tiles and tumbling tiles to the gabel ends of the aisles. Above the entrance is a stone mullioned window with five vertical lights with replacement Upvc leaded windows. There is a 5-sided bay extension to west with large Upvc replacement leaded windows.
East Elevation: Seven bays all with segmental arched window, except the northernmost bay which has a stone mullioned window, all with replacement Upvc leaded lights. Five dormers have timber casement windows with leaded lights.
West Elevation: Numerous later C20 extensions. Four dormer windows to the roof.
South elevation: Flat arched doorway to the right of brick lean-to
Built as St. Giles' Parochial Hall in 1929.
In 1929, a building was erected for the church on the south-west corner of the junction of Church Drive and Bridgford Road, at a cost of about £6,000. It was known as the Parochial Hall and had a large main room with a stage as well as smaller rooms, kitchen and toilets. (Nottingham Evening Post 20th September 1929).
