Full Description

1851 Census shows Forest Tavern to be one of only 8 buildings along Skegby Road. Mr John Hardstaff was the publican at the time, who in addition carried on with his trade as a shoemaker. Forest Tavern is believed to have originally been a farmhouse prior to the 1851 Census. The building still shows all the original external features, although a rear extension and alterations have taken place - these are not considered to detract from its original form. (1)
