Full Description

Portland Row Methodist Church was built in 1882 to replace an earlier building of 1823. Cost £565.9s to build. (1)
Chuch currently not in use. Marked on 1900 OS as Methodist Chapel. Building has been rendered, judging by the finish in the late 60's or 70's. This finish hides the majority of the original features. Windows are currently boarded up so not possible to know if they are original or not. Lintels are arched, probably brick. Decorative circular motif on the front above the door. This feature has been noted on a couple of other churches in this survey. Dentil adornment on the front and on the eaves. Building has been modified since 1900, unfortunatly the OS map for 1938 is missing for this area so not possible to judge exactly when these changes were made. In need of work. (NCC notes on 1)
Locally Listed by Ashfield District Council (ADC Ref: 800) (1).
