Full Description

The Bull and Butcher Public House, Selston was built in 1813 on the site of a former pub. It is still in use today. (1) Identified on the 1879 OS map as the Bull and Butcher (P.H) Building has changed in shape since. Mostly original brick, first storey has been rendered. Tall roof and position of chimney could indicate it was thatched. Current roof covering does not look original. Its not slate or pantile. The entrance (?) to the pub may well have been on the corner of the building which now has signs of being bricked up. The mortar used on this looks much newer than that of the rest of the building. Sills are original, lintels have been covered by the render. Windows appear to be UPVC. (NCC notes on 1)
Locally Listed by Ashfield District Council (ADC Ref: 808) (1).
