Sutton Heritage Society state that it was formerly a Toll House. The 1875-1885 OS maps identifies the building as an Infant School with an associated building. The associated building has been demolished by the 1912-1919 OS map. The building can be considered to have historic significance, rarity and representing both transport and education history. (1)
Building appears to date before 1879; however, this could be a building that has been demolished and something else has been rebuilt. Signs that original windows have been removed with only one of them replaced with a much smaller window. (NCC notes on 1).
