Full Description

c.1900 Primary School. Locally Listed by Ashfield District Council (ADC Ref: 740) (1).
A Board School built in 1903. The architect was J.P. Adlington. A range of three brick buildings with stone dressings – banding, parapets and entrance portals. There are Dutch gables throughout. Two extensions have respected the details if not always the composition. Modern windows are set beneath stone arches with keystones and hood moulds; rainwater goods are also modern. OUTSIDE the buildings are fronted to the west by the original railings; one covered playground survives, though heavily altered. The INTERIOR retains most of the original partitions, as well as roof structures and glazed-tile walls. (2)
