Full Description

The hedgerow is a continuation of that from the north west corner of Little Oak Plantation and formed the boundary between ‘His Grace the Duke of Portland' and the Chaworth Musters estate. A boundary dispute was settled in court in the 1600s. The hedge boundary is shown on the Chaworth Estate map of 1817 and also Sanderson’s map of 1835. There is evidence of ancient hedge laying to this hedge line and evidence of Pollard Oak of considerable age. (1)
