Full Description
On the Oxton to Mansfield road, 400yds E of the Ollerton-Mansfield road, on the brow of the hill, are 3 large parallel trenches, c 10ft deep at their lowest part. They are cut into bunter sandstone for the bottom 2ft. They are E-W up and down the hill for c 50yds. They appear to be hollow ways (described earlier as Med or older roads). (1)
Triple ditches cut in solid rock, at above grid ref. (2)
Hollow ways cut into soft sandstone rock. Probably Med. (3)
Now filled in and ploughed over. (4)
2 rock cuttings, one on the existing road line, and running NW to SE. (5)
