Full Description

The Grove was built by Thomas Oliver Quibell (1863-1945) who was an agricultural merchant and manufacturer. He was Justie of the Peace for Newark Borough and town mayor (1907-9). The buildings became part of The Grove school and were last used as a pupil referal unit but have been boarded-up and unused for several years. The Grove is a fine example of late Victorian, Edwardian large villa, the walled garden contained a glasshouse and bothies, and extant outbuildings include a contemporaneous small domestic house, probably for the head gardener.
