Full Description

The Grove built for Thomas Oliver Quibell (1863-1945), possiby designed by Brewill and Bailey, constructed before 1900, it appears on the Second edition 25inch OS but not on the First edition (published in 1885). Quibell is described as an agricultural merchant and manufacurer, he became Justice of Peace for Newark and Town Mayor (1907-9). The building is a good example of late Victorian villa/small country residence with a extant walled garden, bothies and originally contained a glasshouse. There is a separate small house possibly for the head gardener. The building became part of the Grove school site but recenly became redundant on completion of the new Grove school. (1)
