Full Description

Hotel erected in 1897 by The Mansfield Brewery Company by local architect Mr. R. Frank Vallance.
Opposite the train station it provided accommodation for visitors. The Retford and Gainsborough Times reported that the original design had water tanks in case of fire. However, in 1929 fire broke out in the early hour on February 9th. The Mansfield Advertised reported (22 Feb 1929) that half the buildng was destroyed. It was rebuilt without the pavilion and to a modified design.
Built from Leicester red sand-faced pressed bricks with white Mansfield stone dressings. The upper storey is timber with cement panels. Open timber porch to main entrance with carved figers. (2)
Behind the main building are stables and coach house (MNT27780).
