Full Description
Pre-1878 brick-built (now painted brick), two-storey public house. (1)
A corner pub in Y-shaped road junction. Curved front elevation and conical curved slate roof over decorative corbelled eaves. The surrounding streets (now renamed) were formerly named after Crimean War battles and leaders. The Greasley Castle first features in the Post Office Directory in 1876 described as a fully licensed establishment under victualler Charles William Johnson. Subsequent licensed victuallers included: 1885 = LV = Thomas Taylor (Wm. White's Directory) 1894 = LV = William Leivers (also stated as butcher) (Wrights 1894 Directory; Nottingham & 12 miles around); 1925 = LV = Arthur Bradley (Kelly's Directory) 1941 = LV = George Snook (Kelly's Directory).
