Full Description
Public House in an Estate Style built in 1937 for Arnold-based Home Brewery to a design by Nottingham-based architect (and Victualler's son) Alexander Wilson (1888 to 1969). Some of his most significant work include the 900 houses built on the Beeston Rylands estate in the late 1930s, which provide the setting for the Jolly Anglers. (1)
Earlier pub of the same name (Jolly Angler Inn) now demolished was locatedon the Northern bank of the nearby Beeston Canal. (2) This earlier Hanoverian beerhouse of the same name recorded in White's 1832 Trade Directory under John Wilkinson. One of the first establishements to have a Beer House licence.
