Full Description
Built in 1872. A Gothic building constructed from local blue lias stone, with a fine timber porch. The windows are heavy glazing bar casements set beneath stone hoodmoulds. The original rainwater goods survive intact, and replicas have been used on the modern extension. The outside toilets, a rare survival, have been converted to an office. The original doors and timber roof structure survive inside. (NCC School Survey 2004)(1)
Stone-built single storey school with central entrance with porch flanked by multi-pane windows under stone hoodmolds with label stops and with stone cills. Steeply pitched roof with plain clay tiles. Stone chimney stack with two pots. Further stone-built ranges to the rear. 1883 OS (2) map shows separate outbuilding to the rear and central path leading to the front entrance. (3)
