Full Description
Built in 1856. A simple building in a plain Gothic style with stone kneelered gable parapets. The windows are modern wood casements. There are a variety of window openings: lintels over the schoolroom windows; segmental openings to the Master’s House; and Gothic arches to the porches. The Matser’s House retains its ornate double chimney stack. Internally an unusually ornate hammer beam roof dominates the interior; there are also several original doors with ornate ironwork, and original fireplaces also survive. (NCC School Survey 2004)(1)
Brick-built national primary school. Leaded casement windows with stone dressings. Large off-centre porch with pointed arch door with overlight. Slate roof. Stone coped gables which are decoratively shaped, brick and stone kneelers. Extended to the rear. Now converted to residential use. (2)
