Full Description

The strip of the access road revealed a north–south orientated linear ditch which measured between 1.04m and 1.81m in width and 0.43m in depth. The ditch contained three fills: naturally deposited basal fill, a dark greyish brown clayey silt, 0.14m thick; slump deposit on its western edge, a mid-yellowish grey clayey silt, 0.32m thick; and upper fill, a mid-reddish brown silty clay, 0.32m thick.

The western part of the ditch, numbered locally as, was visible with the south-facing section for the attenuation tank. It contained a single fill that most likely corresponding with basal fill, recorded previously during evaluation. It was sealed by reddish brown sandy silt buried topsoil, likely equivalent to layer recorded previously during evaluation, which measured up to 0.46m thick. This ditch corresponded perfectly with the location of a former boundary ditch seen on the 1900 OS map.
