Full Description

The ditch was located in the northern half of the first evaluation trench aligned northeast/southwest.The ditch measured 0.63m wide by 0.19m deep with straight moderate sides and a concave base. No finds were recovered from fill, which was of a similar makeup to the furrows, comprising firm light orange brown silty clay. The ditch, likely a former field boundary, correlates with a series of anomalies on the geophysical survey indicating furrows and is likely contemporary with this phase of activity. However, the ditch may also represent sub-division of the open field system, the boundary respecting the alignment of long-established furrows.
