Full Description
A very weak linear anomaly on an east-north-east/ west-south-west alignment corresponds to field boundary shown on all early versions of the Ordnance Survey. It is most likely that the anomaly is a result of a post-medieval field boundary. It is worthy of note that this anomaly may also correspond to a feature mapped as part of the Nottinghamshire Mapping Project which is on the same alignment as a possible Iron-Age/ Romano British field system on the opposite side of the A1.
A clearly defined and substantial linear anomaly and a less substantial linear anomaly are approximately perpendicular to weak linear anomaly mentioned above. The anomalies could, therefore, be part of the earlier field system. There is subtle evidence in the data that further remains of post-medieval field boundaries and agricultural remains may survive but the responses are too weak to interpret the anomalies with any confidence and this may suggest a high level of truncation.
