Full Description

A linear ditch exposed for 37m aligned NW-SE. The NW end of the ditch ran under the existing road and could not be exposed further in this direction. The ditch became shallower to the SE and had been truncated by modern activity. The ditch had a width of 1.09-1.39m, a depth of 0.48-0.78m and a V-shaped profile. The ditch had a single fill, a light grey sandy silt with occasional sub-rounded pebbles and no finds. A section excavated at the S end of this feature revealed that it cut by a probable Roman linear feature.
