Full Description

Pair of semi-detached houses, in Domestic Gothic Revival Style, designed by the Nottingham architect Watson Fothergill for Mr. Guy (probably the same T.Guy for whom Fothergill designed 409 and 411 Mansfield Road, Nottingham). They are tow-storied with attic rooms and have cellars below. The plans…were filed with the LPA on 5 March 1887. The properties have lost their gardens. The houses are built of typical red-orange Nottingham brick with blue brick dressings and stone window ledges. The roofs are gabled and half hipped and made of mainly plain tiles with some red/black polychromatic patterning. The gables and eave supports are made of heavy dark timber, as the garderobe supports and handrails of the porches either side of the building. The building has 3 chimney stacks…each has two string courses of stepped blue bricks, having the effect of narrowing the chimney as they go up. (1)
