Full Description
In the east of the Site, two sets of parallel ditches were revealed during a strip map and record. The similar nature of the ditches, and their respecting of one another’s alignment suggests that these features are contemporary; the pottery recovered from one ditch indicates a medieval date. Due to the lack of occupational material within their fills, the ditches appear agricultural in use. However, any potential further associated remains to the south had been truncated by a modern service trench. (1)
The ditches were recorded in two evaluation trenches and correlate with field boundaries recorded on historic mapping dating to 1844, with the adjacent ditches indicating possible evidence of earlier enclosure usage in this area. (2)
