Full Description
A brick post-pad was present in one trench at the base of the trench. The pad was formed from red bricks, which were bonded with cement mortar. The pad was left in situ.
This trench also produced a single flint flake from the subsoil.
Seven pits were present across the monitored area, four in one trench and two in another trench. The pits varied in size, ranging from 0.09 to 0.64 m in depth and mainly contained a single fill of grey brown sandy clay or silt. Two exceptions contained two fills; the primary fills comprised gravelly sand or clay, resulting from initial weathering. The pit fills were largely sterile and homogeneous, which makes determining their date and function difficult.
A single, shallow posthole was recorded in a trench, measuring 0.05 m deep and containing a single sandy silt fill.
A north–south ditch was recorded. The ditch had a flat-based, shallow profile along its length, which had filled up with redeposited natural clay and grey brown clay silt once it had gone out of use. The ditch was possibly an old boundary or trackway.
