Full Description

Clock tower, four storeys, contains open fronted staircase with decorative metal railings at each floor. Staircase is topped by a semi-circular arch with scroll keystone, beneath an open-bed pediment. Above which is the clock tower, build of stone with clasping Doric pilasters. Above, a copper fish scale dome and weathervane. Located at the southern end of the site the Tower Block was erected in stages between 1919 and 1927. This is a steel-framed, brick-clad factory building of four storeys with a prominent domed clock tower at the head of a staircase bay to its principal, seven-bay east elevation. It is otherwise of functional pier and panel form, with wide, multi-pane metal-framed windows lighting the spacious workshop floors within. The interiors are open plan with widely-spaced concrete piers supporting substantial floor beams. (1)
