(Area SK 5060 6442) "Tessellated pavement reported" (1)
The foundations of a Medieval mansion N of Radmanthwaite Farm (see SK 56 SW 5) may have given rise to local reports of a "Roman Pavement". (2)
Local enquiries regarding the initial information above were completely negative. Probably confusion as noted by author (2) or with the villa site two kilometres to the east. The indicated reference falls on a steeply sloping hillside; no traces of a building are to be seen. Mr S O Kay is now dead. (3)
