Full Description

Ditches with pottery in association. 5 superimposed ditches, a single ditch and a large double ditch recorded on both sides of the service road to Brickyard Farm in trenches dug by the Gas Board. Samian ware and coarse ware sherds found, also a whetstone. (1)
Mr Marsh confirmed the site of the finds (at above NGR) but could offer no suggestion as to the character of the ditches, which were "6-9in deep". Finds made in 1964, now in NUM, classified as C4 apart from the whetstone. Position and finds suggest domestic site. No finds made during visit, no surface indications. (2)
See L8406 for Neo axe, L8407 for IA pot. See L3048 for nearby finds scatter.
