Full Description

Considerable surface scatter of Ro pottery, dated by J Gillam to 250-367 AD. No indication of any substantial building, but fairly large quantity of flat stone slabs. (1)
There are no surface indications of this site. Mr Bear stated that the material was found during cultivation in 1953. In his opinion the stone slabs, which formed a small circle at a depth of c 8in, represented the foundations of a hut circle, but he could not recall the diameter of the formation. 15-20 pottery sherds of at least 5 vessels retained by Mr Bear, the stones were re-buried. Hut circle classification is problematical. No scientific excavation was undertaken, no photos of the stones in situ. (2)
