Full Description

Polished stone axehead in WM, "Langold Dyscarr 05/11/1957". The axe is greenish grey, 3.5in long and 2in wide at its cutting edge which is sharp, but chipped at one corner, butt missing. Presented by Mr GF Garner of Carlton in Lindrick (2). The axe was found by Mr G Canning (3) in the portion of Dyscarr Wood that has been reclaimed, now part of Langold School playing field - wood was swampy and he slipped on the axe. He confirmed find spot. (1)
