Full Description

SK 733860 Hayton II. A scatter of pottery and stone was found at the base of the slope to the E of the Chesterfield Canal, c 300yds NE of 04971. (1)
The field is at present under grass but one sherd of grey ware was found. (2)
Re-sited by Mr March more accurately to above grid ref. The material, found in 1962, is now in NUM. The pottery is C3/C4, the stone is unworked and nondescript, it cannot be considered Ro. (3) See L4971,3,4 for further finds in this area, L4975 for soilmark.
