Full Description
SK 735863 Hayton III. A light scatter of pottery and building material ... was found at c 50ft OD, 1/2 mile NE of 04971. Now in NUM. (1)
The field is under spring crop, but a limited perambulation was possible. A few sherds of grey ware and one of rusticated were seen. No building debris was noted. (2)
Re-sited by Mr March more accurately to above grid ref; the building material found in 1962 consists of fragmentary roofing tiles and 3 pieces of wall plaster. All classified as Ro by the museum. (3) See L8762 for flint finds. See L4971,2,4 for further finds in this area, 04975 for soilmark.
