Full Description
A scatter of Ro pottery, building stone, flue tile, slag and coal, was found 150yds W of the Gringley-Clayworth road, in the 2nd field S of Topley Farm Lane, 50yds from its S hedge. (1)
The field is at present under crop and could not be walked. The farmer has been here only 5 years and knows nothing of either the sites or finds. (2)
Mr March confirmed the area of finds which were made in 1962 and 1963. He could not be more accurate as the scatter was "very wide". All the material is now in NUM bearing a "generally C3" classification. (3)
See L4979 for nearby finds.
